The Court Sets Harrisburg City Council’s Legal Funds

In response to the Office of the Receiver’s request for an expedited hearing on the issue of City Council asking for a release of legal funds to defend itself against the Receiver’s order to raise the Earned Income Tax on City residents, a no-record hearing occurred.

Afterwards, Judge Bonnie Leadbetter made her decision. The highlights are as follows:

  • City Council’s legal funds are limited to $7,500 for the defense of the Writ of Mandamus & made payable only at approval of the Court
  • The deadline to file a response to the Writ of Mandamus is Monday, August 13, 2012
  • The hearing on the Writ of Mandamus is scheduled for Thursday, August 23rd at 10:30am (Courtroom 3002, PA Judicial Center)
