Jason Hess Appointed the City of Harrisburg’s Solicitor

In a unanimous vote by Harrisburg City Council, Jason Hess was granted the official position of City Solicitor. Hess has been the “Acting City Solicitor” since February 8, 2011 when Phil Harper resigned after being the City’s chief lawyer since 2008. When Harper left City employment, he told The Patriot News reporter Charlie Thompson, “There was an inability to provide the kind of support that I felt I needed to give [Mayor Linda Thompson], simply because she’s just unaccepting of certain realities.”

Hess appointment comes at the same time as the appointment of a Deputy City Solicitor, Carlesha Green Halkias, who was hired a few months ago to help the overburdened Law Bureau.
