The Court Affirms the Order to Harrisburg City Controller to Sign the Contract

On the matter of the contract to auction off the City of Harrisburg’s artifacts using Guernsy’s Auction House, the Mayor of Harrisburg won this one.

On February 7th, Commonwealth Court Judge James G. Colins issued a 4 page opinion affirming the Dauphin County Court of Common Pleas November 15, 2012 Order to City Controller Dan Miller to sign the contract that’s been an issue of dispute since the Spring of 2012. (more…)

Dauphin County Conservation District Seedling Sale

Dauphin County Conservation District Announces 2013 Seedling Sale

HARRISBURG, PA (February 7, 2013) – The Dauphin County Conservation District is conducting its annual Spring Seedling Sale and offering residents the opportunity to beautify their properties while improving the environment by planting trees and shrubs.

The sale features evergreen and deciduous seedlings; fruit trees; strawberry, blueberry and raspberry plants; and six types of potted perennials. Evergreens are three- and four-year-old bareroot seedlings. Deciduous trees and shrubs are two- and three-year-old bareroot seedlings. Fruit trees are bareroot, approximately four to six feet tall.

Proceeds from the sale will help to support conservation projects in Dauphin County. (more…)

City of Harrisburg Entrepreneur Eric Papenfuse Kicksoff a Run for Mayor

As released by the Papenfuse for Mayor campaign:

Successful business and community leader Eric Papenfuse will formally announce his candidacy for Mayor of Harrisburg at a reception at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 at the Midtown Scholar Book Store, 1302 N. 3rd St., Harrisburg, PA 17102.

The announcement comes after widespread speculation about his candidacy and after a diverse coalition of community leaders pledged its support. Papenfuse will use the occasion to hear from Harrisburg residents about their concerns for the city. He also will introduce members of his campaign team and lay out his election platform in the mayor’s race.

“I am running for Mayor of Harrisburg because I am dedicated to making our capital city a welcoming, vibrant and progressive place to live, work and play,” Papenfuse said. “I believe the city needs competent, committed and caring leadership now more than ever. (more…)
