The assault victim from last week died from his injuries. Report of kids setting fire to paper. Calls for people using drugs (one in the area of the first NSZ).

Still a lot of thefts from motor vehicles, so take the proper precautions with your cars.

Two Weeks Worth of City of Harrisburg Crime Stats: 3/25-3/31 and 4/1-4/7

Last week’s crime report is combined with this one because the City of Harrisburg was delayed in updating its crime information.

March 25th through March 31st

  • 14 criminal mischief/vandalism
  • 29 thefts
  • 5 robberies
      • 3/25–2nd and Verbeke Sts, 9:00PM
      • 3/26–300 Division St, 9:20PM
      • 3/27–900 N 3rd St, 1:22AM
      • 3/27–1600 Liberty St, 9:29PM
      • 3/30–Kline Village, 6:53PM
  • 3 burglaries
  • 15 assaults
  • 4 prostitution
  • 1 shootings (this information is from Spotcrime. The City crime report has it as an aggravated assault. Shootings on the city crime report appear as aggravated assaults, so I do not know if this was a shooting or just an assault)
  • Other- 3 firearm related arrests

Notes: Reports of shots fired (I heard 8 shots fired). Report of juveniles throwing rocks at houses, breaking windows.

One other item, in the first half of the month there were 9 thefts from motor vehicles. In the last half of the month there were 30 thefts from motor vehicles. Reminder, lock your cars and do not leave valuables in your vehicle.

April 1st Through April 7th

  • 10 criminal mischief/vandalism
  • 26 thefts
  • 3 robberies
      • 4/4–2000 Berryhill St, 4:00PM
      • 4/7–15th and Market Sts, 10:00PM
      • 4/7–1100 Mulberry St, 11:00PM
  • 3 burglaries
  • 13 assaults (One assault was the rape of a substantially impaired person. There is a rape on the crime report that I asked HPD about that occurred in the 2200 block of Market St. I have been told that that was actually an incident that happened a few months ago and in working on the incident, the wrong date was put on the report)
  • 2 shootings (reported on Spotcrime. These appear on the city crime report as aggravated assaults)
  • Other- on 4/6 at 7:45 PM there was an attempt to lure a child into a motor vehicle. This occurred at 4th and Emerald Sts.

Notes: The assault that occurred downtown on Court St on 4/6 is listed on the city crime report as a criminal homicide. It is reported by police on Pennlive that the man is still alive, but unconscious. Not sure why it appears as a homicide on the crime report.

There were reports of shots fired.

Looking at thefts from motor vehicles so far this month, 17 incidents have been reported through the 10th.

One last item- Spotcrime has reported some incidents of voiding human excretion. Some of these have been downtown. My husband’s office is downtown and he has found that on the weekends, someone has been defecating against the basement door to his building. There is a small stairwell that leads to the door. This has occurred in the past month. He just reported these incidents to the police, not because anything can be done, but so they know this is happening downtown. I don’t know if this has been reported at other businesses but if it has it could become a public health problem.
